Chosen and Dearly LOVED

Scripture: Colossians 3:12 — “Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.”

There are moments in life when it’s easy to feel overlooked, forgotten, or even unworthy. Perhaps you’ve felt like your best days are behind you, or that your contributions and gifts no longer matter. But God’s Word brings a reminder that nothing—neither age, circumstances, nor societal standards—can diminish His love for you. In Colossians 3:12, Paul declares a powerful truth: “As God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved…”

Let’s pause and reflect on these words. To be chosen means God handpicked you. You are not here by accident, and your life is not random. God’s selection is deliberate, intentional, and rooted in love. Every experience, lesson, joy, and even hardship has been woven into the tapestry of your life with a purpose. Being chosen is not about earning approval; it is about being embraced by the One who created you, redeemed you, and calls you His own.

The phrase “dearly loved” reinforces the depth of God’s affection for you. This love is not fleeting or conditional; it is steadfast, eternal, and personal. You are not loved because of what you do, what you look like, or how productive you are. You are loved simply because God calls you His child. At every stage of life, His love remains, renewing, sustaining, and empowering you to live fully in your calling.

For women over 50, this truth carries profound significance. Perhaps society suggests that your season of influence is behind you, or that your value is tied to productivity, youth, or outward appearance. God says otherwise. Your wisdom, resilience, and experiences are treasures in His eyes. You are chosen for this moment, and you are dearly loved for all that you are and all that you have endured.

Colossians 3:12 also gives us practical guidance: “Clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.”

As God’s chosen and loved, you are called to reflect His character. These virtues are not burdensome rules; they are expressions of the love that God has already placed within you. They remind us that our identity in Christ shapes not only how we see ourselves but also how we interact with the world.

To live as God’s chosen and dearly loved woman today means embracing your value, your gifts, and your purpose without apology. It means releasing comparison, fear, or doubt and stepping boldly into your God-given role—whether in family, ministry, work, or community. Every interaction, every act of kindness, every choice made in love becomes a reflection of the One who chose you and loves you unconditionally.

Take a moment today to reflect on your life. Are there areas where you’ve doubted your worth, relevance, or God’s love? Let this verse remind you that you are chosen, holy, and dearly loved. You are not too late, too ordinary, or too overlooked. Your life carries meaning, your presence carries influence, and your story carries impact. God has handpicked you for this season, and His love is unwavering.

Reflection Questions:

  1. In what ways have you struggled to embrace your identity as chosen and loved, and how does Colossians 3:12 remind you of your value?

  2. How can you express compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience in your daily life as a reflection of God’s love?

  3. What steps can you take this week to live boldly as a woman chosen and dearly loved by God?

Prayer: Lord, thank You for choosing me and loving me dearly. Help me to live in the reality of Your love, embracing my identity and purpose in every season. Teach me to clothe myself in compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, reflecting Your character in all I do. Let me walk confidently, knowing I am chosen, holy, and deeply loved by You. Amen.

Affirmation: “I am God’s chosen. I am holy and dearly loved. My life has purpose, and my story matters. I reflect His love and walk boldly in my identity.”
