Warrior vs Worrier

Love on the slopes

“I’m a warrior NOT a worrier”

I have watched this movie several times and each time the phrase I’m a warrior not a worrier” sticks out. It sticks out in such a way that speaks to me, “I’m a warrior not a worrier”. What does it mean to be a warrior? What does it mean to be a worrier? Why does the statement resonate with me?

I imagine that it resonates with me because I tend to worry more than being a warrior.

A worrier is someone that worries about everything, all the time, so much so they can cause others to worry.

A warrior is a fighter. A warrior is someone that has fought many times, some wins and some losses. A warrior is someone experienced with combat.

So, after considering the difference between a warrior and a worrier I am more perplexed as to why I worry. Hmmm, have been in many battles, health, finances, relationships, and career; so suffice to say, I have some experience in fighting.

It is possible that it resonates with me because I want to be a warrior? It is possible that it resonates with me because I would like to worry less. BE WORRY FREE.

Being worry free sounds really good, I actually feel peace when I say WORRY FREE. Is it possible to live a worry free life? Is it possible to not be concerned about things? I actually think it is possible. You may be asking how?

I consider what the word says. Phillippians 4:6-7 CSB “Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”

It may be easy for some to quote scriptures, write them down in your journal, you may even attempt to memorize the scripture so that you can keep close in your heart - you will need it.

If the bible says don’t worry about anything, that means don’t worry about how you will eat, how you will provide, how you will protect… Well, I guess so,,,, but I pause because I don’t believe that we don't take action, take responsibility for our outcome. Okay, maybe that didn’t come out right. What I meant to say is that you do your part and God will do HIS.

The bible says that if I pray, if I petition (make a request), make a request known to God, be grateful, thankful in my request knowing that God will hear my prayer, and in time will bring HIS will to pass. Alright, there seems to be a bit of a catch. I pray. I make my request known to God. THEN.. God hears me and responds according to HIS will. There it is, it is HIS will that comes to fruition. I now wonder if that is the next part of the verse… “ And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus” WOW!!! I think I just got it! Yes, at this moment I think I just got an understanding.

I pray.

He hears.

I am thankful for my request.

He responds to His will.

I have PEACE!

I am a warrior NOT a worrier!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How does it connect to the Bible?

(Application: pray and ask God to speak to your heart, read the passage of scripture, sit and wait to hear God, write what He says to you)

How can you apply to your life?
